Reprint 1924. An early edition of the author's hilarious account of a boating holiday on the River Thames. Originally published in 1889, this is an unusual copy as it has a newspaper photograph of the author affixed to the front pastedown, part of the original dust jacket attached to the front endpaper, and a personal hand written letter from the author laid down facing the title page, which itself contains the ownership signature of the recipient of the letter, E. W. Cladd. In the letter Jerome tells his correspondent how much he enjoyed their recent meeting, and says he feels as if he had known the latter for a long time. The book also contains hand written notes about the original identities of "George" and "Harris" facing Chapter One, and an Obituary Notice from "The Times" in June 1927 pasted to the rear endpaper. Book is about good with and quite bright. Spine quite marked with surface rubbing effecting the wording and colour. Contents good with age toned pages.
