Hugoe Matthews (1938-2011) was an authority on the Victorian novelist and nature writer Richard Jefferies, of whose works he created probably the finest collection in private hands. In collaboration with George Miller, Matthews wrote the definitive bibliography of Jefferies’ works, published by Scolar Press in 1993 and served for many years as President of the Richard Jefferies Society.
