It states 'portrait of myself as a boy scout' The second is a drawing of a schoolboy and his name below. On thin paper. Circa 1911. Charles Pears 1873-1958 was a British painter, illustrator and artist. His work was part of the art competitions at the 1928 Summer Olympics and the 1932 Summer Olympics.Pears is best known as a marine painter, where he often signed his work as Chas Pears. Pears was the first elected President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. His works were exhibited from 1904 to 1939 in London having moved there, and he also wrote a number of books on small boat cruising. Once belonged to Nannie Manook. She was a renowned autograph collector, sending her self addressed postcards and letters to be signed and returned. Size is 140mm x 88mm. Condition is quite good. Light edge repair to one drawing.
