Three original 18th Century legal documents dated 1758 with regards to the purchase of a ship built in Philadelphia and the recovery of a debt in relation to His Majesty’s Plantation and Colonies in America in Relation to James Lillott.
1) 1758 letter from the Mayor of London Sir Charles Asgill 1st Baronett 1714 – 1788. Regarding the recovery of a debt in relation to His Majesty’s Plantation and Colonies in America. This document certify’ s that James Lilliott appeared before him. Lord Mayor seal to base of letter. Dated 1758.
2)A 1758 letter signed by James Lilliott and Sir Charles Asgill being a statement as a witness between David Barclay merchant, Charles Eve Ropemaker from Surrey and William Evo of the Island of Jamaica Merchant.
3) A 1758 document signed by David Barclay, James Lilliot, Charles Evo of Jamaica, and other investors regarding the purchase of a ship in Philadelphia and their 1/16th ownership of it. The ship appears to be called The Pusoy who’s late commander was Soloman Goad.
Size 330mm x 210mm Condition is good. Light folding creases, edge rubbing, light age toning and odd nicks to edges.
