He was a patron of James McNeill Whistler and was involved with the Pre-Raphaelite set. In 1902, Battersea was involved in a homosexual scandal. Although ringleader in the case, in which two procurers were imprisoned, he was secretly granted immunity from prosecution by the Government of Arthur Balfour. The books are very good++ and bright.
