and others. Thomas Fairfax, 3rd Baron Fairfax, (1612-1671) Yorkshire born politician, general and Parliamentary commander-in-chief during the English Civil War. An adept and talented commander, Fairfax led Parliament to many major victories.
Fairfax's own account of the military actions during the Civil War, in Manchester, Preston and Bradford, packed full of fascinating insights, as well as an account of the life of Oliver Cromwell. Rare.
With copper-plates. Missing frontis plate of Fairfax. Includes the reamining three copper plates. Bound in a late Victorian full leather binding. Book is very good++ and bright. Contents good. Pages slightly age toned. Staining to edge of some of the early pages.
