1st Edition 1st State 1969. One of three copies of the first state retained by Henry Williamson. A number of annotations and the incorrect passage that does not appear in the 2nd state inked out. Presentation copy to Richard and Anne Williamson from the author. The bookplate of Richard Williamson who looked after the authors literary estate after his death to end paper. The original first state of 3000 copies were pulped due to an error on page 34 at the authors request. It is not known how many still survive as a small number were sent out for proof reading. According to Williamson only 12 copies exist but Matthews bibliography states a few more than this ended up in circulation. From experience the 1st state copies are incredibly rare.
