
1st Edition 1911. Bookplate of Frederick William Mills. was born in 1868 to Charles Mills and his wife Emma (née Walker) who lived in 'Thornleigh', Edgerton. He was their only son. His father was a solicitor in Huddersfield. He went on to become a famous early photographer and microscope expert. He published a number of book on both subjects. Historical themed novel with fantasy/supernatural elements set in the reign of Edward III. The story depicts the Battle of Crecy and the Black Death and also features a supernatural personification of Death called Murgh.Tissue guarded colour frontispiece, & 3 other colour plates. Book is very good++ and bright. Edges lightly rubbed. Contents good. End papers darkened and age toned.Quite a nice example.
