1st Edition 1950. Possibly Artists proof copy with a hand coloured and initialed gauche painting to the title page. Pictorial endpapers stitched later into the book whilst the first edition used them as endpapers. The illustrations out of sync within the text. Cheap board quality compared to the 1st edition that was produced in cloth. The inscription I believe is from his wife to a niece. Illustrated by Leslie Atkinson. Leslie Atkinson 1911-2004 Artist and illustrator who studied at the Royal College of Art under Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilious. Book is very good++ with bright boards. The wrapper is good++ with rubbing/odd nicks/small closed tears to edges. Spine tips rubbed. Light restoration to spine tips.
