1st Edition C1945. A Powell Powell Colour book and very uncommon. This edition includes 1) Thumblings Travels illustrated by Mollie Gerard,2) Snow White and Rose Red illustrated by Angela Baynes 3) The Five Servants Illustrated by Victor Ross 4) The Dwarf in a Bottle illustrated by Tom Kerr. During WW2 Perry was stationed at the camouflage centre Farnham Castle where he would have rubbed shoulders with artists such as Julian Trevelyan and Roland Penrose and the magician Jasper Maskelyne, Pauline Baynes to name just a few. Perry's family owned a printing firm in Putney and he persuaded some of the artists at the Camouflage Centre to moonlight, producing a number of wartime children's titles modelled to some extent on Carrington's Picture Puffin series. The book is very good and bright. Small loss to paper hinge top. Light edge rubbing. Nice clean contents.
