
Five Original Hand Written Letters and Signed by Composer/Pianist Wilhelm Ganz. Also includes a Programme from One of His Concerts. Dated 1883-1909. The letters concern musical and domestic matters. Wilhelm Ganz 1833-1914 was a German born English pianist, violinist, and conductor; He studied piano and conducting with his father, Adolf Ganz and with Karl Anschutz. He settled in England in 1850. He was active as an accompanist to Jenny Lind and other musicians, and was also a violinist in Henry Wylde’s New Phil. Orch. in London. He was then joint conductor with Wylde (1874–79) and subsequently sole conductor, organizing his own “Mr. Ganz’s Orchestral Concerts’7 in 1880. After their discontinuance in 1883, he taught voice at the Guildhall School of Music. He published 'Memories of a Musician' Size of letters are 175mm x 115mm. Programme is 205mm x 135mm. Condition is good. Light folding creases. Light age toning and foxing.
