
Five Original 'College of Arms' Handwritten and Signed Letters by Sir Gerald Woods Wollaston Garter Principal King of Arms to Major Sir Algernon Tudor Craig. Dated 1931-1941. Some of the letters are of a general communication but a few go into detail of the war, the coronation and Heraldry issues. Sir Gerald Woods Wollaston 1874-1957 was a long-serving officer of arms at the College of Arms in London. Wollaston's family had a firm tradition at the College of Arms. Wollaston's great-grandfather was Sir William Woods, Garter Principal King of Arms from 1838 until his death in 1842. His grandfather was Sir Albert William Woods who held the same post from 1869 to 1904 1901. Size is 230mm x 180mm. Condition is good. Light folding crease. Light foxing.
