1st Edition 1944. Presentation inscription from the author to a family member. A lovely inscription. The wrapper artwork and black and white plates undertaken by Pauline Baynes who later illustrated the famous Tolkien and C S Lewis Narnia books. This was her first substantial book illustration commission. Elizabeth and her sister Jane meet the great ladies of English history, including Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Florence Nightingale, thanks to Titania and the Magic Clover. Book is very good++ and bright. Nice clean contents. The wrapper is very good and bright. Small loss to spine tips. Edges with nicks and light rubbing. A nice example.
