
An Original Written and Signed Letter on Headed paper at The Drake Hotel Upper Michigan, Chicago by Writer Hugh Walpole. Letter dated 1923. The letter reads 'Dear Sir, I understand that you have a complete set of the 'Print Collector's Quarterly' which you are willing to sell for thirty five dollars. Mr William McKen has given me your name and address. I should be glad to purchase the set for that price if you have them still. I understand that the set is complete. Could you send me word c/o Lee Keerlich Lecture Agents, 487 Fifth Avenue, New York as to whether the set is still in your possession? If that is so and you are willing to sell it to me for that price I will at once send you a check and you can send the set to me at the Drake Hotel where I shall be from April 1-3. I am, Yours truly, Hugh Walpole' Sir Hugh Seymour Walpole 1884-1941 was an English novelist. He was the son of an Anglican clergyman, intended for a career in the church but drawn instead to writing. Among those who encouraged him were the authors Henry James and Arnold Bennett. His skill at scene-setting and vivid plots, as well as his high profile as a lecturer, brought him a large readership in the United Kingdom and North America. He was a best-selling author in the 1920s and 1930s but has been largely neglected since his death.. Size of letter is 240mm x 150mm. Folding centre crease.
