Typed letter signed from Thornton Burgess to Mr. Whittemore dated June 21 1954, thanking him for his letter, saying "The news that Reddy Fox will never catch Peter Rabbit in my stories seems to have travelled fast all over the country", and expressing his amusement that a passing comment he made in a television interview was newsworthy, going on to mention the enclosing of a photograph as requested, Thornton Waldo Burgess 1874-1965 was an American conservationist and author of children's stories. He was sometimes known as the Bedtime Story-Man, after his newspaper column Bedtime Stories. By the time he retired, he had written more than 170 books and 15,000 stories for the daily newspaper column. Size is 215mm x 138mm. Condition is good. Light folding creasing. Age toning to top edge
