The letter written in French declines the invitation as it clashes with another function. François Pierre Guillaume Guizot 1787-1874 was a French historian, orator, and statesman. Guizot was a dominant figure in French politics prior to the Revolution of 1848. He served the "citizen king" Louis Philippe, as Minister of Education, 1832–37, ambassador to London, Foreign Minister 1840–1847, and finally Prime Minister of France from 19 September 1847 to 23 February 1848. The Fishmongers’ Company is one of the oldest and most ancient Livery Companies of the City of London, one of the ‘Great Twelve.’ For 700 years it has stood on the banks of the River Thames playing a leading role in upholding the standards in the trading of fish and shellfish .Size is 228mm x 180mm.
