A short note discussing Biggles and a character called Marie. The recipient of the signed postcards is David Gillard MBE, arts journalist and critic. He was Classical Music Editor and Radio Correspondent for the BBC Radio Times and, for 46 years, the opera critic of the Daily Mail. William Earl Johns 1893 – 1968 was an English First World War pilot, and writer of adventure stories, usually written under the pen name Capt. W. E.
