
An Original Rare Handwritten Signed Letter by Dad’s Army Actor John Laurie and an Original Dad’s Army Film Lobby Card. Dated 1979. A lovely letter to a fan who had undertaken a drawing of him in Dads Army. Laurie goes onto say ‘I am afraid Dads Army finished for good- we are getting a bit past it. But I hope they’ll repeat some of the best in weeks to come’ He sadly died a year later. John Paton Laurie 1897-1980 was a Scottish stage, film, and television actor. He appeared in scores of feature films with directors including Alfred Hitchcock, David Lean, Michael Powell and Laurence Olivier, generally playing memorable small or supporting roles. As a stage actor, he was cast in Shakespearean roles and was a speaker of verse, especially of Robert Burns. He is perhaps best remembered for his role in the sitcom Dad's Army (1968–1977) as Private Frazer, a member of the Home Guard. Size is 200mm x 127mm. Condition is good. Light folding creases.
