
An Original Letter Signed and Written by John Gale Jones. Dated C1825. A very interesting letter about the raising of funds and a publication called 'Mad Dogs' for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The society was formed in 1824 by a number of individuals and became Founded in 1824, it is the oldest and largest animal welfare organisation in the world. John Gale Jones 1769-1838 was an English radical orator. Until its suppression in 1798, he was active in the London Corresponding Society. He was several times imprisoned for provocative agitation against the government. Size of letter is 175mm x 115mm. Condition is quite good. Light folding creases. Light loss to edge. Paper age toned.
