
An Original Handwritten and Signed letter/envelope by Writer Stephen Spender. Letter dated 1984. The letter reads - 'Dear Bill, I do hope you got a letter from me explaining that your broadsides arrived too late for me to deal with them before we left England. I'll do so in mid-September when we return. I am so sorry about this misunderstanding which seems a poor return for your kindness to me in West Virginia. Yours sincerely, Stephen. I believe I'm meeting President Voss and some people from West Virginia at Monet's Garden October 4th'. Sir Stephen Harold Spender 1909-1995 was an English poet, novelist and essayist whose work concentrated on themes of social injustice and the class struggle. He was appointed Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry by the United States Library of Congress in 1965. Size of letter is 280mm x 215mm. Folding centre crease.
