
An Original Handwritten and Signed Personal 10 Downing Street Letter by Prime Minister William Gladstone to Viscount Kilcoursie Offering Him the Position of the Vice Chamberlain of the Household. Dated Feb 11th, 1886. A wonderful political letter from Gladstone. Frederick Edward Gould Lambart, 9th Earl of Cavan 1839 – 1900 styled Viscount Kilcoursie until 1887, was an Anglo-Irish Royal Navy officer and Liberal politician. He served as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household in 1886 in William Ewart Gladstone's third administration. William Ewart Gladstone 1809-1898 was a British statesman and Liberal politician. In a career lasting over 60 years, he served for 12 years as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, spread over four terms beginning in 1868 and ending in 1894. He also served as Chancellor of the Exchequer four times, serving over 12 years. Size is 185mm x 120mm. Condition is good. Gum marks to the rear.
