An Original Handwritten and Signed Letter by Writer and Reformer Caroline Norton. The letter reads - 'Dear Lady Bovill, I am sorry to miss you today - and your party the other day! But it was the day of the Evening Academy Exhibition, and I had promised my country cousins to show them the lighting up of the pictures, and after that to hear Marmion at a concert in Grosvenor Place. It was far too late, when the promises were fulfilled, to go on to you, so I sent my young ladies to dream of Millais and Leighton, and retired myself to dream of the less romantic looking artist who painted the touching little picture of the Schoolmaster's Daughter, a little gem I would like to buy - but for the obstacle of having no money for such purchases. Believe me, Yours very truly, Caroline Norton' Caroline Norton 1807-1877 was an active English social reformer and author.
