
An Original Handwritten Letter from the Crimean War in the hand and signed by Irish Colonel Thomas Henry Pakenham to Colonel Parlby. Dated 1855. A letter stating that 10th Hussars shall continue to form 4 Squadrons. Colonel Packenham 1826-1913 was an Irish Conservative politician and British Army officer. He fought in the Crimean War in 1854 and in the Fenian raids in 1866. He was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Antrim in 1854, succeeding his brother Edward Pakenham, who was killed at the Battle of Inkerman. Colonel William Parlby 1801-1881 was a senior British Army officer, who served in British cavalry regiments in India and the Crimean War. Condition is good. Folding crease. Gum marks to rear edge.
