
An Original Handwritten Letter Signed by Lieutenant-General Sir Henry William Stisted to Debretts. Undated. A six sided letter giving his biography to the editor of Debretts, the Peerage Baronetage. An incredibly detailed account of his life and career. Lieutenant-General Sir Henry William Stisted 1817-1875, served as the first Lieutenant Governor of Ontario after Confederation, from 1867 to 1868. He was appointed Major General in 1864 and divisional commander of British forces in Canada in 1866 and appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in June 1867. He was instrumental in opening up the northern part of the province for development. Size is 177mm x 114mm. Condition is good. Light folding crease. Light gum marks to edges.
