
An Original Hand Written Letter by Edward Law 1st Baron Ellenborough. Dated C1800. Minutes in letter form of Ellenborough observations of a trail between Morley and Amley. Includes an engraving of Ellenborough. Edward Law, 1st Baron Ellenborough, 1750 – 1818, was an English judge. After serving as a member of parliament and Attorney General, he became Lord Chief Justice. In 1787 he was appointed principal counsel for Warren Hastings in the celebrated impeachment trial before the House of Lords, and the ability with which he conducted the defence was universally recognised. Size 230mm x 185mm Condition is quite good. Age toning and slight loss to edge due to the letter seal being broken.
