
An Original 10 Downing Street Handwritten Signed Letter by Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin. Letter dated 1928. The letter reads - 'My dear Maynard Smith, nothing would give me more pleasure than to see you again but speak in Glo'ster I cannot. To accept one engagement in the week or two at Christmas opens up the sluice gates: one engagement I mean beyond my annual meeting which takes up an afternoon and involves a speech. I hate refusing to lend a hand, but if I did all I was asked to I should soon crack.
