A Small Collection of letters and a plaque from medal maker R Gunther in Relation to the Churchill and Royal Family. Letters from Augusta Spencer Churchill and Cynthia Colville. All dated between 1936-1937. Includes the following
a) Three Letters to Mr R Gunther from Augusta Spencer Churchill (Princess Royals Lady in Waiting) with regards to a plaque of the King and Queen.
b) Three letters from Lady Cynthia Coleville with regards to the plaque and also candlesticks for the King and Queen. The plaque and candlesticks were sent to the Queen via Lady Augustus Spencer Churchill. Two from Marlborough House and One from Buckingham Palace.
c) Also included is an original bronze plaque in its original box Commemoration medal for the birth of the Marquis of Blandford Son of Charles Spencer Churchill and Consuelo Vanderbilt Sept 18th 1897.
Lady Augusta Spencer-Churchill [née Warburton] (1854-1941), wife of Lord Edward Spencer-Churchill (1853-1911), half-brother of the 7th Duke of Marlborough and close relation of Winston Churchill
John Albert Edward William Spencer-Churchill, 10th Duke of Marlborough, 1897-1972, styled Marquess of Blandford until 1934, was a British military officer and peer. He was born in London on 18 September 1897 as the first of two sons born to Charles Spencer-Churchill, 9th Duke of Marlborough and his first wife, the former Consuelo Vanderbilt, an American railroad heiress
Lady Helen Cynthia Colville 1884-1968 was an English courtier and social worker, serving as a Woman of the Bedchamber to Queen Mary, while at the same time devoting her energies to alleviating the suffering of Shoreditch, one of the poorest areas of the East End of London. Letter Sizes are is 190m x 120mm. Plaque is 40mm circumference. Condition is good. Light wear plaque case. Folding creases.
