A Small Collection of Documents in Relation to the Military Commission for the future Lt Colonel Francis Charles Trollope. Including two original hand written letters from Irish Field Marshal Garnet Joseph Wolseley, 1st Viscount Wolseley to his father Sir Charles Trollope in relation to the delay in the commission due to his age. Also includes a Joker card from the 11th Prince Albert's Own Hussars. The regiment served in the Crimean War with the two Generals Trollope and Wolseley. The regiment was part of the Light Brigade commanded by Cardigan and was also involved in the Charge of the Light Brigade in October 1854. What the joker card link is between General Trollope and Field Marshall Wolseley is unknown. Maybe a favour is owed or a joke between themselves. The letters are dated 1876. The two long secretarial military letters to the Northampton and Rutland Militia from Major Garnet Wolseley and politician William Dalrymple outline the reasons that the Military Commission for the future Lt Colonel Francis Charles Trollope will be delayed by a year due to his age. Various sizes. Condition is good. Light folding creasing.
